Audi R8 Le Mans Series Cup is one of the most anticipated race series for production cars. Our work was to design its website and build it robust, cross-platform and bilingual. We created the desktop site and responsive mobile site with a user-friendly backend for ongoing updates from races. We wanted to create a look and feel that inspired speed and excitement at the racetrack, while also strictly adhering to Audi’s visual identity for the brand. The website works perfectly on desktop, tablet and mobile, with a layout optimized for Chinese characters. In order to overcome bandwidth restrictions in China, we placed content on CDN and multimedia files on a local media server. The CMS was further optimized for caching and fast loading of pages. For Audi, we also built a separate website for its Open Innovation Challenge campaign, which incorporated a car/helmet painting game, judge panel module, social media sharing, a gallery, registration and upload of videos.


Vote for the best Jetstar Jump and win a trip! The challenge was for user to submit a photo of her star-shaped jump and collect votes from others on social media. We were assigned the work to build a campaign site that invited users to personalize and upload photos, Hot-or-Not style. The competition caught fire as people posted fun and crazy photos, helping Jetstar’s introduction in China. A key challenge in this project was to overcome technical constraint of launching the site in China and optimizing the site for fast upload and engaging user experience. The successful campaign was created in collaboration with Tribal DDB, who came up with the idea to let people submit photos from their mobile phones or computer.


The KLM Open is part of the European Tour, Europe’s foremost professional golf tournament. As the lead sponsor for the tour, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines decided to engage with Chinese enthusiasts with an online golf game with prizes. Our game designers created the game concept, logic and visual gameplay for the golf game. Select a departure city, choose destination and hit the ball with carefully measured direction and power. Hit the ball in hole and win a ticket! The game used social media from start to the end. Users logged in with their Weibo account, got three chances to win, and more chances by sharing on social media, and KLM’s destinations were promoted on Weibo shares. The KLM Open golf game was designed and built in just three weeks and the campaign ran smoothly and attracted players for full four weeks of campaign’s duration. If only we got to work with more games!


We built the first Hertz China website back in 2004, with two more generations of Hertz China following through the years. Our team effectively acted as Hertz digital division commissioned to handle promotions, maintenance and enhancements. The websites featured bilingual online booking system connected to Hertz legacy infrastructure, with a complete administrative backend. We used open source technology and developed custom modules. We also built a separate B2B booking portal for Hertz key corporate accounts and multilingual tracking system in English, Chinese and Japanese. We also devised security protocol as well as setup for backup and encryption.


The Sports Car Championship Festival is held annually in Shanghai, China. Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Porsche race on this day with highlights being the finales of four one-make cups: Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and Audi R8 LMS Cup. SCHWANN was assigned by Tribal DDB to develop the SCCF responsive website and integrating it with social media. HTML5/CSS3 used to facilitate browsing on tablet and mobile devices. The SCCF website was built in English and Chinese, using open source CMS with custom backend and functional modules. Full suite of media tracking codes was implemented, providing intelligence before, during and after the race event.


Veolia Water operates the Yansan water treatment plant in joint venture with Sinopec. Veolia approached SCHWANN in preparation for the 5-year anniversary of the venture. Scope of work included design of a set of brochures, custom illustrations and Infographics, animation, professional photography, and video filming and production. Our designers created isometric illustrations to show the structural layout of Veolia Yansan water treatment plant. We animated the illustrations to explain the water treatment process and function of each facility. A key event in the anniversary was to celebrate a groundbreaking technology called halogenation process. Our designers had to learn how the halogenation technology works and animated the entire process in the video. A team of twelve staff members completed the design, filming and production. For this project, we were entrusted for the full scope of work, from concept, planning, storyboarding, even music composition, and post-production.
